01 / Our story

The world has grown closer. But not for everyone.

I live in Southern Europe.

Home is wherever I feel I belong. My life, my work, my friendships and my family have long since stopped being tied to a single place.

And to me, that is something wonderful.

I can be sitting in Mallorca in the morning, talking to someone in Germany, sending an email to the United States and, moments later, seeing someone on the other side of the world on my screen.

Distance has taken on a whole new meaning for us.

We work from anywhere. We share moments across continents. We stay connected, even when thousands of kilometres lie between us.

For many of us, this is simply part of everyday life.

But we are overlooking something essential: this new freedom is still far from being available to everyone.

We live in a world where technology keeps opening up new possibilities. At the same time, we are leaving people out. For all kinds of reasons.

Because they are getting older. Because they live with a disability. Because they speak a different language. Because they lack digital experience. Because they cannot afford certain technologies. Or simply because the solutions we build do not fit their lives.

We talk about progress and digital transformation. About artificial intelligence and a world connected without borders.

But we rarely stop to ask who can still keep up with it all.

And who is being left behind.

For me, my mother made that question deeply personal.

While I can connect with people around the world almost effortlessly, even a simple video call is a challenge for her.

And yet, sometimes all I want is to see her, just for a moment.

To see her face. To laugh with her. To show her something. Or simply to share a small moment of her day.

What comes naturally to me can feel complicated and unsettling to her.

But I have also seen that this digital divide means much more than missed opportunities.

I never want to receive another call like the one I had from my mother.

I was almost 2,000 kilometres away from her.

She was distraught. Frightened. She had received a call from someone trying to scam her by pretending to be a family member in trouble.

And I could not be there with her.

Closeness. Trust. Safety.ALONPO.

I could not hold her. I could not comfort her or help her feel safe.

All I could do was talk to her on the phone.

Then she said something I will never forget:

“But I heard your voice.”

Those words hit me hard.

Not only because I was so far away at that moment.

But because I realised just how vulnerable people can be in situations like this.

We live in a world where voices can be artificially imitated. Where scammers exploit trust, stir up fear and deliberately put people under pressure.

And the very technology that is meant to bring us together becomes a tool for deceiving people.

I do not want to be left trying to comfort my mother after something like this has happened. I want her to be better protected in the first place.

And I believe we now have the technology to work towards exactly that.

Not by burdening people with even more rules, warnings and complicated settings.

But by developing technology that is easier to understand, helps spot risks early and supports people when it matters most.

Because this is no longer an issue that affects only older people.

It affects all of us.

And at some point, I began to wonder:

Why should people always have to adapt to technology? Why not the other way around?

02 / What we believe

That question became ALONPO.

We believe technology can do more than organise our daily lives and keep us connected.

It can help us live more safely and with greater independence.

That is why our team is working on new technological solutions designed to make digital possibilities easier to access and help protect people from risks.

We want to develop technology that gives people confidence and a sense of security, without overwhelming them.

And that does not leave anyone out simply because the digital world keeps getting more complicated.

03 / Our name

A name that reflects what we stand for.

Our name has its roots in a thought from the New Testament, in the Apostle Paul’s Letter to the Galatians (6:2):

“Alter alterius onera portate.”

“Carry one another’s burdens.”

The name ALONPO grew out of this Latin idea.

For us, it represents mutual support, responsibility and the belief that no one should have to face life’s challenges alone.

We want to bring that thought into the digital world: through technology that lightens people’s load, helps them feel safe and opens up new possibilities.
